When you went through your set up process we went ahead and added a Cubby for each of your kids.
Think of a Cubby the same as you’d think of a Cubby in your house, it’s a place to put things. In this case it contains emails, events and contacts. In the future it will contain files, links and data from other apps.
You can create unlimited Cubbys and they don’t have to be for a specific person. You could have a Cubby for vacation information, bills, overall family stuff or any other thing you want to give space to.
Think of Channels as categories within your Cubby. When you went through setup we added channels for Friends, School (for any kid over 5) and the activity you specified for each kid.
You can change the name and logo of each Channel, for instance, I changed school to the name of my daughter’s school.
You can create as many Channels as you like. You could have one for Basketball or you might want to have one for each separate basketball team your kid plays for.
For each Channel you can add unlimited Contacts. A Contact can be a person or an organization.
Contacts are how the email magic of Cubby works. If you add a Contact that has an email address any time that contact emails you or anyone in your account with a connected email that email will show up in the Message Feed for that Cubby.
In the Description field you can add additional helpful text that can be searched on the Contacts page. So instead of naming someone “Lisa Mom, Marge” like you might do in your phone you can name them “Simpson, Marge” and in the description put “Lisa’s Mom”. Also all contacts are available to all collaborators so no more texts asking your significant other or co-parent for someone’s contact details.
